Did you use the credit card without permission? If the real cardholder files a complaint, the credit card company contacts the merchant and pulls documents such a receipts and orders. So they would find out who made the purchase, yes. And yes you can get into trouble. The cardholder can file charges against you. Or the credit card company can come after you to collect. You can do the right thing by paying for the charges out of your pocket.
